University of Bordeux (LCPO)

It is the largest system of higher education schools in south western France, with more than 60.000 students and 5000 of researchers and professors. The LCPO is one of the most active research unit affiliated to the University of Bordeaux having more than 50 PhD students and 5-10 postdoctoral fellows every year.

LCPO focus on the training of PhD and Post-doctoral fellows and they are promoting around 10-15 PhD students per year.

  • Prof. Daniel Taton

Scientific Coordinator. Prof. Daniel Taton was appointed as assistant Professor at the University of Bordeaux in 1995 and develops his research activities at the LCPO, a joint research unit. He is well recognized in the field of polymer chemistry and in macromolecular engineering in general. Prof. Taton already supervised 10 PhD theses, 12 post doctorates, and directs 7 ongoing PhD students. He is also deeply involved in teaching activities in Polymer Science at different levels (Bachelor and Master), mainly at the University, but also at the School of Engineers at ENSCBP. In this context, he has managed many interns, including undergraduates and master students.

  • Prof. Valérie Héroguez

Began polymer chemistry researches in 1986 at the University of Bordeaux 1 and got her PhD in Polymer Chemistry in 1989. She became Senior Scientist in 2005. Her current research area includes the Ring Opening Metathesis Polymerization (ROMP) of cyclo-olefins and macromonomers and the synthesis of advanced functional nanoparticles in aqueous media for different applications.
